Yachts Sonar and Marine Radar

Marine Radar is probably the most important tool for night or inclement weather navigation.

A skilled operator can use marine radar to identify objects around the vessel.

Pleasure craft type radar is normally 2kw, 24 nautical miles or 4kw, 48 nautical miles. They can be stand alone units or be part of a multifunction display. When fitted to a multifunction display and the vessel has a heading sensor radar / chart overlay can be achieved which helps the inexperienced operator identify land masses and objects around the vessel.
